Sutton Arthritis Research Laboratories

The Sutton Laboratories, located at Royal North Shore Hospital, focuses on research to understand the mechanisms of, and discover new treatments for, inflammatory and auto-immune diseases.

Specific areas of interests are:

  • matrix metalloproteinase activity in inflammation
  • the anti-inflammatory and protective roles of activated protein C
  • role of osteopontin during tendon invasion in rheumatoid arthritis
  • new treatments for wound healing
  • prevention of type I diabetes
