Sydney Melanoma Unit
The Sydney Melanoma Unit is the largest treatment centre for melanoma in the world. It was formed in 1968 by Professor Milton and conducts a wide range of basic and clinical research relating to melanoma. The Unit is funded from a variety of sources including the Melanoma Foundation of the University of Sydney and the Central Area Health Service. Support from the NSW Health Department, the NHMRC and the NSW State Cancer Council maintains the extensive research and clinical programs of the unit.
The Sydney Melanoma Unit is located at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. It has a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and community education for the prevention and early diagnosis of melanoma.
