What are Summer Research Scholarships?
Summer Research Scholarships offer a unique opportunity for students to obtain experience in medical-related research. They provide students with a fantastic insight into the research process and give them the opportunity to test whether research is for them.
The scholarships offer students the experience of working with well-established researchers in high quality medical research facilities.
What do they offer?
- the opportunity to undertake a research project over a period of eight weeks
- supervision by well-established researchers
- excellent research facilities
- $225 per week tax free stipend
How many scholarships are awarded?
Sydney Medical School awards 60 Summer Research Scholarships (a number are reserved for previous Scholarship holders).
Who can apply?
The scholarships are open to students currently enrolled full-time at University in an undergraduate Science or Medicine degree or an equivalent degree in the physical or natural sciences. Students currently enrolled in Sydney Medical School Medical Program can also apply.
You are not eligible to apply if you already have a PhD or a Masters degree.
Successful applicants for scholarships were enrolled in the following undergraduate degrees:
- Bachelor of Liberal Studies
- Bachelor of Medical Science
- Bachelor of Medicine
- Bachelor of Science
- Bachelor of Pharmacy
- MBBS
Students awarded a Summer Research scholarship for the previous summer are welcome to apply for another scholarship in the following year.
