Early Career Researcher & New Staff Grants Scheme

In line with its commitment to focus resources on the support of early career researchers and new staff members the Faculty of Medicine is calling for applications for research grants of up to $50,000 for one year from eligible early career researchers or staff who are new to the Faculty. These grants are intended to be investments in people and pilot projects that are likely to lead to major funding returns.

Early career researchers are considered to be those who were awarded their PhD no more than in 6 years ago or hold an academic appointment up to and including Level B Step 3.

New staff are researchers holding positions of Level D or below who have been employed by the University of Sydney for less than 2 years at the closing date for applications.

These grants are directed explicitly to these 2 groups of researchers rather than established researchers and those with existing grant funding.

Applications closed for 2008

Outcomes of this scheme will be announced after the ARC/NHMRC grants round outcomes are known. They will be published at Funding opportunities - Outcomes
