Services provided by the Faculty of Medicine IT Unit
The Faculty of Medicine IT Unit is responsible for:
- Desktop support
providing teaching, research and administrative staff with assistance in the set up and use of all their hardware and software. - Infrastructure
providing the Faculty with the servers and networks required to power email, video-conferencing, file sharing and web services to several thousand staff and students spread across NSW. - Software development
the creation of database solutions, e-learning packages (including bespoke course delivery systems) and web-sites for both Faculty and external clients. - Website development
assisting organisational units within, or closely associated with, the Faculty to establish or convert a website using TeamSite - the University's Content Management System (CMS) - to be consistent with Faculty branding and technical guidelines.
In total, there are some 30 staff in the wider IT Unit, with employees located in all the USyd-affiliated hospitals, rural schools (Dubbo & Lismore) and research institutes as well as on the Camperdown/Darlington campus.
Because of their high level of experience and technical expertise, our staff are consulted on IT solutions by other sectors of the university.
Management of the entire team is a collaborative enterprise between Chris Liddle (Associate Dean, IT), Robert Pearce (Desktop support), Daniel Burn (Software development), and Paul McInerney and Matt Sage (Systems).
