MedKey Accounts

The MedKey is the account you use to access most Sydney Medical School systems. It consists of a username and a password.
All Medical School Members, staff, Research Students, and Medical Program students and teachers are eligible for a MedKey account.

Your MedKey does not automatically give you access to all services; some services need to be activated before your MedKey will grant you access.

The MedKey account was referred to in the past as the "Faculty of Medicine Account", "Faculty of Medicine Email Account", or "LDAP Account".

What services can my MedKey give me access to?

Your MedKey can grant you access to the following systems and services:

The MedKey also enables creation of an Academic Profile on the Medical School Web Site.

How do I get a MedKey?

To obtain an account, contact your local Computer Support Officer.

How does it differ from my UniKey?

MedKeys are a similar, but separate account from the UniKey. Your UniKey gives you access to services provided centrally by the University, such as Exchange, VPN, web proxy, and modem access. You can find out more about the UniKey account from the ITassist web site.

What other accounts might I have with Medicine?

  • Active Directory account: this is used for logging Windows machines on main campus, as well as the RPA and Concord clinical schools.
  • MedSci account: for accessing services in Physiology and Anatomy.
  • Hospital and Area Health Service accounts - these are not maintained by Sydney Medical School IT Unit.
