Medical Faculty servers may be unavailable on Fridays between 6 am and 8 am for regular maintenance.
This may include email, web, file and database servers for both students and staff. This time has been chosen because it coincides with the regular planned maintenance period for central ICT servers and networks (which often affects Faculty Services).

Problem logging onto Windows PC's in the Medfac domain
The problem affecting logon to Windows PC's in the medfac domain has been resolved, along with the problem affecting access to network drives. Logons to Faculty Windows PC's now work normally. Any lingering problems with network drives should be solved by logging out and in again. br>

Problem logging onto Windows PC's in the Medfac domain
A problem exists at present with logging onto Windows PC's that are members of the Medfac Domain. This is affecting Faculty Windows PC's on main campus and in some clinical Schools. Following entry of username and password the user is presented with either a blank screen or the screen with normal background but no icons and no start menu.
The workaround is to wait up to 20 minutes, by which time the logon process will complete and the users normal desktop will be displayed. However network drives will not be available.
Investigation into the cause of the problem is underway.

Intermittant Faculty Email problems
Some Faculty Email users experienced a problem whereby they were able to log into the email server but no email was displayed. This issue was related to file system problems and was temporarily resovled this morning at approx 09:15 by a 5 minute outage. A more permanant fix will be performed between 12:01 am and 8:00 am Friday 28/3/08 during which time the email server will be unavailable.

Windows file sharing server Philinna down
The Windows server Philinna went down at approx 17:30. Migration of data to an althernate Windows server named Kronos is complete. Should any Faculty Windows file share user not have access to their data, please contact the Faculty helpdesk on 02 9351 3886 or via email at helpdesk@med.usyd.edu.au.

Fault causing some slowness of email and Internet access
There was an issue across the University which was causing slowness to some email and internet traffic. The problem has been resolved. It was an issue with the ICT border router. Note that the status of ICT faults can be monnitored via the ICT outages page (itassist.usyd.edu.au/news/index.shtml).
