Outstanding Teaching, Excellence in Research Supervision, Support of the Student Experience and Systems that Achieve Collective Excellence

PLEASE NOTE:
The closing date for submission to Ria Deamer in the Faculty Office (A27) is 31 August 2009.

Applications are invited for 2009 Faculty of Medicine Awards for Outstanding Teaching, Excellence in Research Supervision, Support of the Student Experience and Systems that Achieve Collective Excellence. The criteria for these awards are identical to those for the Vice-Chancellor’s University awards for Outstanding Teaching, Excellence in Research Supervision, Support of the Student Experience and Systems that Achieve Collective Excellence. Applications for the Faculty of Medicine awards must be submitted in exactly the same format as for the Vice-Chancellor’s awards. Details of criteria and how to apply for each category of award may be found at http://www.itl.usyd.edu.au/awards/vcawards.htm

Members of Faculty (including all title holders) are strongly encouraged to apply. The same application may be submitted for the Faculty of Medicine awards as was used for the Vice-Chancellor's University awards (which close on 22 May 2009). (Members of Faculty who are unable to prepare a submission in time for consideration for a Vice-Chancellor’s award this year may nevertheless wish to make a submission for a Faculty award this year and consider updating their submission for consideration for a 2010 Vice-Chancellor's award.)

Subject to applications being of sufficient quality, the Dean may make up to four awards to individual members of staff and/or groups. Recommendations for awards will be made by a committee chaired by the Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching). Members of the Faculty Education Committee are eligible to apply for the Faculty awards, but such members will not participate in the recommendation process. Successful applicants will be awarded an appropriate certificate together with the sum of $5,000. The awards will be presented at the 19 November 2009 meeting of Faculty.
