Overview
Established in 1879 the Children's Hospital is the major paediatric specialist hospital in NSW delivering health care in all of the medical and surgical sub-specialities, as well as providing diagnostic, paramedical and technical supporting services for neonates, children and adolescents.
Now known as The Clinical School, it is based at The Children's Hospital at Westmead (Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children) and uses the laboratory and office facilities provided by the hospital.
The Discipline of Paediatrics & Child Health is primarily based at The Children's Hospital at Westmead. Paediatric teaching in the USydMP course principally occurs at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Nepean, Royal North Shore, Dubbo and Orange base hospital.
Members of the discipline of Paediatrics and Child Health also teach in other metropolitan hospitals including Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Westmead, Hornsby, Manly, Mona Vale, Royal Prince Alfred and Canterbury.
The Clinical School encompasses diverse graduate training areas including: epidemiology of childhood disorders, social and psychological aspects of child development, genetics research encompassing morphologic, biochemical and molecular genetic investigation of disorders in children.
